breaking news

The Xbox Tokyo Game Show broadcast has come with a bunch of new announcements for the console and its wider offering of games.
007 First Light is one of the more widely anticipated titles on that list, with many keen to see IO Interactive's take on the beloved spy franchise. As part of the continuing reveals ahead of the game's release on 27 March 2026, the developer has been sharing many of the cast members who will feature.
The latest to add to that list is MCU star Gemma Chan, who most will know for her role as Selina in Marvel's Eternals.
In announcing the news on the Xbox website, IO Interactive had the following to say, "As revealed today as part of the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 Broadcast, and for the first time in her career, Gemma Chan will lend both her voice and likeness to a video game. She takes on the role of Selina Tan, MI6’s Head of Tactical Simulation, a new character specifically created for 007 First Light."

"Selina oversees a cutting-edge program designed to test and refine the skills of MI6’s most promising recruits. With her background in psychology, strategy, and immersive technologies, she is as formidable as she is innovative."
Chan joins the already announced cast members, including Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin, The OA) who is taking on the role of a 26-year-old James Bond, while Priyanga Burford takes on the role of his beleaguered supervisor M. Alastair Mackenzie is taking on the mantle of Q, whilst Kiera Lester plays Miss Moneypenny. The cast also includes Lennie James, who is most well known for Fear the Walking Dead and Save Me, as Bond’s mentor John Greenway, and Noémie Nakai as Miss Roth.
The move deepens the idea that the game is absolutely designed as a cinematic experience, so we'll have to wait and see how well the developer manages to tread the line between that and actual enjoyable gameplay.
Whilst said gameplay will remain the biggest mystery until players get their hands on it, the early footage we've seen so far makes it tough to deny how pretty it's going to be. They have also clearly managed to capture the stylistic essences of the more recent Bond films, so that's another positive sign if you're a longtime fan of the franchise.

With most of the main cast now out in the open, the only major mystery remains the series antagonist. My money is on the guy with the golden Caesar mask in the trailer, though they could just be a lesser evil in a world of terrible and nefarious villains.
