Our New James Bond Has Officially Been Confirmed

I wonder how he likes his martini...?

The next actor to step into the shoes of legendary superspy James Bond has been recently revealed.

The James Bond franchise is as popular as ever but hasn’t seen a new film since 2021 with No Time To Die.

While a new film hasn’t been officially announced a new video game is on the way, 007 First Light, which features a younger Bond on his first official mission, before he obtains his 00 status.

Bringing 007 to life is Irish actor Patrick Gibson, who was confirmed to be playing the role in a full casting announcement for the game.

Gameplay was recently shown off as well, featuring combat that looks like Hitman crossed with Uncharted, with all the flair and style the Bond films are known for.

While many have found issues in the game essentially being an origin story, it makes sense from a gameplay perspective, as an inexperienced Bond is a far more exciting protagonist than a veteran Bond who hardly makes any mistakes, like I’m sure players will be doing.

Other roles revealed include M who will be played by Priyanga Burford, Moneypenny who’ll be played by Kiera Lester, and of course Q, played by Alastair Mackenzie.

The game will launch on 27 March 2026, and if you go for the special edition you’ll get the legendary Golden Gun as a cool collectible.

As someone who played a lot of GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 and From Russia With Love on the PlayStation 2, I’m very excited to see Bond returning to video game consoles, and so far it’s looking pretty good.

That said there has been some backlash to some of the casting choices made for the game, mainly from “fans” taking offence to how some of the female characters look, but we’ll pay them no notice.
