It Takes Two studio reveals sci-fi fantasy adventure Split Fiction

It Takes only one copy for two to play Split Fiction though

Josef Fares is back at The Game Awards, and the creator of It Takes Two has a brand new co-op adventure for us to sink our teeth into.

Split Fiction looks like more of the same from developer Hazelight Studios (and that is 100% not a complaint).

The split-screen co-op game looks like it had some Metroid-inspired ball shenanigans, the protagonists morphed into dragons at one point, and I have no idea what was going on with the sausage rolling bit.

The setting seems all over the place too, shifting between sci-fi and high fantasy.

And if you think this is the second time you're hearing this announcement, don't worry - you're not losing it.

Split Fiction actually leaked twice already, somehow. Once back at the start of November, and then another time towards the end of last week.

Take a look at the game in action below.

Just like Fares' past two co-op titles, you'll only need one copy of Split Fiction between two friends - even online.

The same "Friends Pass" system they used in past games is even better this time around though, as it also includes crossplay.

Assumedly that means that one person can own it on PlayStation 5, and play it with a buddy on Xbox Series X even if they don't actually own Split Fiction.

And, much like It Takes Two, Split Fiction will also be published by Electronic Arts.

Clearly the publisher has forgiven Fares for absolutely tearing them a new one at The Game Awards in 2017.

Even better, it'll be out in two months on March 6, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.

Kind of disappointed Fares didn't make fun of the Oscars again this time though... but hey, at least he got in another fun dig at microtransations.

You tell 'em, Josef.
