We keep on getting closer to the release of Hogwarts Legacy, and despite official details about preorders and special editions being non-existent at this point, we may have just got an update.
You might remember that last month, an array of what appeared to be either pre-order bonuses or DLC content (or both) were leaked via the source code of the official website, and there was some pretty interesting stuff to be seen. First shared by Reddit user opalelement, listed were: Thestral Mount, Dark Arts Cosmetic Pack, Dark Arts Battle Arena, Dark Arts Garrison Hat, 72 Hours Early Access to the Game, Kelpie Robe, Steel Case, Floating Ancient Magic Wand with Book.
Take a look at the gameplay trailer for Hogwarts Legacy below.
At the time, although the names of these things could be found in the source code, that was all we had to work with - there were no descriptions of what they were, or how you could get them. Now though, as reported by MP1st, a different Reddit user, BattleDashBR, claims to have gotten the website to display the part of the page they were supposed to appear on, which sheds a lot more light on the situation.
If it’s to be believed, there’ll reportedly be three different editions of the game - Collector’s, Deluxe and Standard. While the Standard Edition is predictably just the base game, the Collector’s Edition will reportedly give you everything listed above, while the Deluxe will include everything but the Steel Case and Floating Ancient Magic Wand with Book. It also adds that for the Deluxe Edition, the Dark Arts Garrison Hat and 72 Hours Early Access to the Game are only available for the Digital Deluxe edition, so presumably there’s a physical and digital Deluxe version.

Again, assuming this is all true, it suggests a few different things. The first is that the two items exclusive to the Collector’s Edition are most likely physical bonuses, which is neat. The second, based on the fact that under the Deluxe Edition, it clarifies that only those with the Digital Deluxe can get early access, chances are that those who buy the Collector’s Edition won’t be getting a physical copy of the game, either - perhaps they’ll have a code sent to them via email, or have their preorders sent out sooner in order to get early access. Keep in mind that this is pure speculation, but when you consider that God of War: Ragnarök’s special editions don’t contain a physical copy of the game either, it doesn’t seem unlikely that something like this would be the case.
Until anything is officially confirmed, do take all this with a pinch of salt.
