There was bad news yesterday for many people waiting for the release of Hogwarts Legacy - they’re going to have to wait even longer for it. That’s right, yet another delay was announced, although this time it was only for select platforms - namely, previous-gen consoles.
For Xbox One and PS4 users, the game is now set to launch on 4 April 2023, two months later than expected. The Switch version of the game hadn’t actually been given a release date before, so technically that one hasn’t been delayed, but anyone wanting to play it on there is going to have to wait even longer, as it releases on 25 July 2023. I don’t know about you, but I’m still baffled at the thought of how the Switch version is even going to run - we’re yet to see it in action.

Thankfully for those on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5, there are no changes to the 10 February release date - Avalanche Software community manager Chandler Wood has now confirmed that for those platforms, the game has gone gold, so fans have nothing to worry about.

“Hogwarts Legacy is still launching on February 10 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (in fact, we've gone gold on those platforms!)! We need a bit more time on the PS4 and Xbox One, however we also finally have a date for all of our Switch players!” Wood tweeted yesterday, following the announcement of the delay.
Later today (14 December), fans can expect to see a lot more of the game during the second Hogwarts Legacy Gameplay Showcase. At 6pm UK time on the official Hogwarts Legacy YouTube channel (and on Avalanche Software’s Twitch channel), we’ll be shown a “a new look at broom flight and traversal, advanced combat, and an introduction to the Room of Requirement”, so be sure to set a reminder for that if you’re interested.
