Hogwarts Legacy players praise 'god-send' feature that all RPGs should have

Hogwarts Legacy's 'Change Appearance' feature is being called a 'god-send' by fans.

We’re just a few days away from Hogwarts Legacy’s release, although I’m imagining that many of you have already got your hands on the game thanks to the early access period. To gain eligibility, you’ll need to have pre-ordered the deluxe edition on either PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S or PC. If you opted for the standard edition, you can join in on Friday 10 February.

Those who are enjoying the early access period are already sharing their wisdom with the rest of us. They’re recommending that players immediately change one setting which drastically improves the immersion of the game. Originally, it was thought that it may take 120 hours to see all that the game has to offer but it’s now claimed that you can platinum it in around 70 hours. Some fans have also been left ‘dumbfounded’ and ‘awestruck’ by the stunning castle. Now though, Hogwarts Legacy fans are raving about a ‘god-send’ feature.

Take a tour of Hogsmeade below to get an idea of the scale of this game.

Players have taken to Reddit to praise the ‘Change Appearance’ option. User HansInMyPans wrote, “The ‘Change Appearance’ option on all gear items is a god send. It’s just like Assassin’s Creed where you can select the optimal gear for stats, but still keep the look you want. It’s a small but extremely effective feature IMO. Especially when you pick up legendary lizard eyes and you don’t want to run around all googly eyed.”

It’s a good point. Stats are important, but so are aesthetics - especially if the devs ever add a photo mode which they currently have not. Plenty agreed with the user. PlatinumSage added, “It is, and helps make the low inventory pain much less because you never lose the item’s appearance from your repertoire.” Scream1e was relieved to discover this feature. “Oh you can do that?” they said. “I had those goggles and a huge wizard hat on in all the cutscenes so far hahaha.”

So essentially, you can sell a cosmetic for coins - in which case you’ll lose its stats ability - but you’ll still be able to don the appearance of said item. Neat.
