Hogwarts Legacy file size confirmed, and it won't dominate your system storage

The system requirements are here.

After winning the award for Most Anticipated Game at The Game Awards 2022, Hogwarts Legacy fans are combing through every crumb of content we've got for clues. Fortunately, for those playing on PC, the system requirements are front and centre on the game's listings online, but we've brought them here for ease. No need to break a sweat this time.

All this being said, some players were surprised to see their preorders cancelled at the start of this year. Warner Bros. Interactive responded to say that these are actually as a result of the delay to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Hogwarts Legacy and there's no cause for concern. "The team is looking forward to bringing you the game and we want to deliver the best possible game experience across all platforms," explained the team. Given that the difference between last-gen and current-gen is a prickly topic, it's for the best that the developer has more time to polish these versions to a shine.

Take a tour of the spellbinding Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin common rooms below:

Of course, that's more pertinent to those on consoles, whereas today, we have news for the PC players. With no more ado, find the minimum system requirements here:

  • OS: 64-bit processor, Windows 10
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 OR AMD Ryzen 5 2600
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD RX Vega 56
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 85 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: SSD (Preferred), HDD (Supported), 1080p/60 fps, Low Quality Settings, Upscale Performance Setting

Those with a mite bit more horsepower should look to the recommended requirements:

  • OS: 64-bit processor, Windows 10
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-8700 OR AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 1080 Ti or AMD RX 5700 XT
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 85 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: SSD, 1080p/60 fps, High Quality Settings, Upscale Quality Setting

Honestly, the graphics requirement does cause me to pull at my collar and gulp cartoonishly, and I imagine that it's demanding as an answer to those exceptional particle effects we'll see in the wilds of the school grounds and in magical classes. However, the game isn't asking for a lot of storage... yet. It's possible that updates and DLC will see that figure balloon more than Aunt Marge at the dinner table. Hogwarts Legacy comes to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles on 10 February, with the other versions following in the months afterwards.
