Hogwarts Legacy dragon mount makes the game 100 times cooler

Hogwarts Legacy gives wizards the chance to explore Hogwarts like never before, from the air, with broomsticks, Thestrals, and Hippogriffs all being options to traverse the school grounds and surrounding areas. It’s pretty cool, and a great way to get around quickly. Do you know what’s cooler though? Dragons.

That’s right a talented modder has expanded the list of rideable mounts found in-game to include dragons as a method of transportation, and it’s exactly what the game needed. Titled DragonOgryff, created by Showie, transforms all Hippogriffs into dragons instead. It’s a small change, but one that’s greatly appreciated, as it makes airborne exploration way more interesting.

Dragons are no stranger to the wizarding world of Harry Potter, with one appearing in the fourth story, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and another appearing in Gringott’s Vault in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.

Interestingly, the Harry Potter lore states that dragons are more like forces of nature, being incredibly dangerous to the point where it’s impossible for one to be tamed or domesticated, meaning the majority are locked up and restrained. Makes sense that you can’t ride one in the base game then.

As for the dragons in Showie’s mod, they are tameable and come in a variety of different types, such as the emerald-coloured Green Welsh, the spooky Ethereal, or the ferocious Hungarian Horntail. With this mod, you’ll be flying through the skies in style, and likely terrifying all the students and teachers as you soar past the castle’s windows.

Hogwarts Legacy has amassed quite the mod community, all of which are dedicated to bringing new weapons like the Sword of Gryffindor, advanced multiplayer and much more. More mods will likely follow, so it’ll be exciting to see what gets added next, hopefully one will feature a method to kill some of the more annoying NPCs…
