Hogwarts Legacy 2 is the highly-anticipated sequel to the best Harry Potter game so far, but it could be in trouble.
Harry Potter is still all the rage right now with a rebooted TV series on the way and a sequel to the acclaimed Hogwarts Legacy believed to be in the works.
For Hogwarts Legacy 2, fans want a bigger open-world as well as a story that actually takes place in Hogwarts, as much of the game involves you venturing away from the castle and not spending all that much time there. They’re also hoping for more mechanics that make you feel like a student, such as more to do when hanging around the castle grounds.
While we’re very excited to see what Avalanche Software does with the next game in the series, we’re also a little worried, especially given the latest news regarding Warner Bros.

As I’m hoping you can tell by my horrible subheading pun, Warner Bros is now taking offers for its acquisition, and while it hasn’t confirmed if it’ll be accepting any of them, the possibility is very real.

Some big corporations reportedly have their eye on Warner Bros, such as Paramount for instance, and I’d imagine Disney could be considering an offer too especially with regards to Warner Bros film rights.
One other company rumoured to be interested however is Netflix, as reported by CNBC, which has been making more and more moves in the gaming industry as of late.
Warner Bros has produced a lot of video games over the years from some of the biggest franchises in the world, such as Lord Of The Rings, Batman and, of course, Harry Potter.

Speaking at a recent earnings call, Netflix's co-CEO Ted Sarandos said, via Hollywood Reporter, the company is “predominantly focused on growing organically, investing aggressively and responsibly into the growth and returning access cash flow to shareholders".
Now if Netflix does end up acquiring Warner Bros, it could have big implications for both TV/film and gaming.
As far as Hogwarts Legacy 2 is concerned, an acquisition by Netflix could mean the sequel will be sold entirely digitally as Netflix hasn't particularly ventured into physical media and probably won’t start anytime soon.
Gamers have been very vocal about their fears regarding an all-digital future and as someone who loves collecting physical media, I can’t say I’m keen on the idea myself, but if Netflix is in charge, future Warner Bros games might ditch the discs in favour of download codes and subscription services.
