Hogwarts Legacy 2's open world is already dividing fans

Harry Potter fans have been discussing where they'd want a potential Hogwarts Legacy sequel to be set, and no one can agree on anything.

Hogwarts Legacy may have been out for less than two months, but fans are already thinking ahead to the future of the series. Unfortunately, it looks like no matter what happens with it, not everyone is going to be happy.

Not long after the game’s release, Warner Bros. revealed that it sees Hogwarts Legacy as a long-term franchise, which seemed to pretty much confirm that there’ll be multiple future instalments for fans to look forward to. Given how much the first one has sold, that’s not really surprising.

Take a look at Hogwarts Legacy’s funniest mod featuring PS1 Hagrid below.

Although many have thoroughly enjoyed exploring Hogwarts Legacy’s open world (the devs have been praised for creating what fans have described as the “definitive Harry Potter experience”), some believe that if the game does get a sequel, it should be set in a new location. Reddit user Censius posed the question to fans on r/HarryPotterGame: “For a sequel I would love to explore a different school. How would you envision a sequel?”

Responses have been very varied. Many agree that exploring the wider Wizarding World would be a really interesting time: “I would be thrilled to have such a sequel. The franchise should finally break out of Hogwarts, and explore the world!” daemonengineer commented. “I could see it being a multiple maps situation. Maybe Thestral carriage fast travel. A Triwizard Tournament would be a good way to explore other schools, maps, countries and wizarding cultures around the globe,” Virtuous-Vice wrote.

However, others believe that it’d make more sense to improve on the beloved location that the devs have already made: “I literally don’t care about the other schools. Just make a bigger and better Hogwarts for the sequel,” FruitParfait said. “Stay at Hogwarts, but make it more immersive. Expand on other characters, add a few more secrets, make outfits more customisable, make the common rooms more useful, sit down on chairs/benches, sleep, a reasonable day/night cycle,” SlytherinBear95 suggested.

Obviously, right now we’re still probably a very long way away from seeing a sequel happen, even if its eventual existence feels like an inevitability. It makes you wonder if the devs are already cooking something up behind the scenes, though.
