It’s widely suspected that Hogwarts Legacy’s long-awaited sequel may be unveiled at next month’s Summer Game Fest, and Avalanche is only adding fuel to the fire.
While a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy hasn’t officially been confirmed, it’s well known that one is coming; in fact, you could call it the industry’s second-worst-kept secret after Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
The Wizarding World follow-up has been referenced by several developers on LinkedIn for starters.
Avalanche, the studio behind the game, recently appointed a new community manager too - a role that’s typically only filled ahead of a game’s marketing kicking off.

The theory held by many is that Hogwarts Legacy’s sequel will launch in early 2027, coinciding with the conclusion of the first season of HBO’s Harry Potter TV show, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
This fits with what Warner Bros. Games CEO JP Perrette previously teased when he said that the company's biggest gaming franchises would return in 2027 and 2028.
Hogwarts Legacy is, at the moment, arguably the biggest.
You can see why Summer Game Fest theories have arisen. If a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is launching in early 2027, it needs to be revealed soon to allow for ample marketing time.
PlayStation is also rumoured to be holding an event this month or next, with that being another possible reveal contender given the previous partnership between Sony and Hogwarts Legacy.
Avalanche has now made us all the more suspicious after dropping a possible tease on Twitter/X.
A 37-second montage of clips was shared to the game’s official account captioned, “Ancient Magic is not something to be trifled with. #HogwartsLegacy”.
While the Hogwarts Legacy account has posted clips of this nature before, this one is highly unusual.
The last clip landed in October of 2025, so you do have to wonder why devs have surfaced after seven months.
What’s most telling about this clip, though, is that it touches upon Hogwarts Legacy’s conclusion, in which players had to choose what to do with the Ancient Magic they had gained control of.
At the end of that first outing, players can contain the Ancient Magic (the ‘good’ ending) or unleash the Ancient Magic (the ‘evil’ ending).
Assumedly, this will have to factor into what happens in the next game as the decision majorly reflects the intentions and character of the game’s protagonist.
If you choose the good ending, you become somewhat of a saviour of the Wizarding World. However, if you choose the bad ending, your eyes can glow red with your newly absorbed power.
Is it possible that the Hogwarts Legacy account is reminding us of this sequence of events as a signal of what’s to come? In other words, a continuation of the story.
Fans seem to think so.
“Hogwarts Legacy 2 story tease?” one fan responded.
“There must be a reason to be active for the franchise again,” added another.
“Are you guys teasing Hogwarts 2?” read a comment.
This tweet could mean precisely nothing but as Summer Game Fest approaches in just one month’s time, speculation is only going to grow all the more prevalent.
