Hogwarts Legacy 2 Latest Update Will Put Your Mind At Ease

It's good news

Hogwarts Legacy 2 is definitely in development, though the latest problems at Warner Bros were thought to have put its future into question.

There were questions about the next Harry Potter game before Warner Bros started considering buyout offers to be fair, but the situation certainly hasn’t alleviated the fears of fans.

We’re here to tell you that there’s actually some good news though. That's because Netflix has acquired Warner Bros. Crucially, Hogwarts Legacy 2 should be safe and sound from this.

Netflix had been the favourite to pull off the acquisition; a closer look at the deal revealed it’s specifically regarding the company’s film assets. Its gaming division is not a factor in the discussion.

Now this isn’t just good news for the next Hogwarts Legacy game but also the variety of other IPs Warner Bros Games produces, such as LEGO Batman which is getting a new game next year.

One of the primary fears regarding Netflix’s potential takeover is that some games would be cancelled as they changed hands, and others would find themselves stuck in digital storefronts as Netflix isn’t in the business of physical media.

What Do We Know About Hogwarts Legacy 2?

At the time of writing the next Hogwarts Legacy game is a closely guarded secret as the title does not even have a logo to go off.

There are a fair few assumptions we can make though and some credible leaks that point to the game once again being single player.

Some fans were concerned that in the era of live-service gaming the next Hogwarts Legacy would essentially become an MMO, and while it sounds like a good idea on paper to have a Hogwarts filled with players pretending to be wizards you just know there’d be a hefty hoard of microtransactions and other cheeky additions to go with it.

From the sound of things though Hogwarts Legacy 2 is firmly planted in the singleplayer genre, not that we wouldn’t mind a multiplayer mode too. Something akin to GTA: Online but with our own custom students would be a lot of fun.

Other assumptions we can make are that the open-world will not only be different but probably bigger.

This next game should have a generous budget given how much the first game made, so expanding the map and giving gamers more to see and do will likely be paramount to its success.
