HBO's The Last Of Us stays true to game by updating broken episode

Two filming errors in The Last of Us episode six have seemingly been fixed post-release on HBO Max.

Spoiler warning - this article contains very mild spoilers for The Last of Us’ sixth episode, ‘Kin’. To be honest, they barely count as spoilers at all. But if you’re yet to catch up, don’t say that I didn’t warn you.

I’m not sure if there are any shows or movies out there that are completely free of blunders. It’s easy for small errors to slip through the cracks - whether it’s a minor prop problem or a visible crew member, these are the sorts of things that, for the most part, no one is going to notice. That is, until one person points it out on Reddit and then no one can un-see it.

As incredible as it is, The Last of Us has been no better in this regard. After episode six was shown, it didn’t take long for viewers to spot a few stray crew members lurking in the snow as Joel and Ellie made their way to Jackson, as well as some random fingers tickling Shimmer the horse’s chin when Ellie first meets her. However, as GamesRadar+ reports, it seems that these issues have now been edited out in a post-release update, making the show and game have something else in common. Technology is incredible!

Take a look at the teaser trailer for The Last of Us’ upcoming eighth episode below.

First spotted by the unofficial Naughty Dog news account @NaughtyNDC on Twitter, it seems that HBO has quietly fixed the errors on HBO Max. According to GamesRadar+, these changes haven’t been rolled out worldwide - reportedly, both errors are still visible on the Canadian streaming service, Crave. Perhaps it’s only a matter of time before other streaming services get access to the updated episode, though.

It remains to be seen if similar measures will be taken to amend a problem in episode seven, ‘Left Behind’. Once again, eagle-eyed viewers have managed to spot a crew member off to one side of the action. Oops.

The Last of Us’ penultimate season one episode is coming very soon - it’ll release on Sunday 5 March for U.S. viewers, and Monday 6 March for those in the UK. Don’t miss it.
