Every Harry Potter Fan Needs To Visit These Places IRL

I would say that it’s a good time to be a Harry Potter fan right now, what with the release of Hogwarts Legacy crawling ever closer, but oh boy, that latest Fantastic Beasts film hasn’t gone down too well, has it? The Secrets of Dumbledore is currently sitting at a rather sad 47% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, which speaks for itself. Not to mention its really glaring plot hole, which is driving fans up the wall.

Well, even if the newer instalments of the Wizarding World franchise aren’t exactly standing up to scrutiny, there’s no doubt that there’s a lot of nostalgia for the main series, which people still can’t seem to get enough of more than a decade on from its conclusion (in film, that is). If you’ve ever secretly hoped for a Hogwarts letter to come through the post, or dreamed about exploring the castle halls, no doubt you’ll be very jealous of this TikToker who’s on a mission to visit all of the iconic filming locations from the movies, and they look just as magical even without the CGI.

Check out this compilation of some of the most bewitching Harry Potter filming locations you can actually visit in person.

As you can see, from the Hogwarts Express, to the Black Lake and the school library, Melissa (melmadog) has seen it all. A lot of these places are located in Scotland, so hey, if you ever find yourself in the area, it might be worth a quick Google to see if there’s any spellbinding spots nearby.

If going to them yourself isn’t an option though, fear not, because melmadog frequently uploads new videos of their adventures, so you can live vicariously through them. Or, you can always hang on until later this year when Hogwarts Legacy releases, when you’ll be able to explore Hogwarts and the surrounding areas to your heart’s content. Admittedly, that’s probably not quite as magical as the real thing, but it’s still something, right?
