The year is 2022. Halo Infinite released at the back-end of last year, to rave reviews and general audience satisfaction (as satisfied as gamers on the internet are ever going to be, anyway). You know what we all need more of? Halo 2.
That’s apparently what one modder thinks, anyway. Over on Mod DB, the_vengeful_vadam has been working on a really unique mod of the the 2004 game, and fans are definitely going to want to check it out. Allow me to introduce you to Halo 2 Uncut, a Master Chief Collection mod which aims to make the game longer than ever before, and restore a bunch of content which was lost during development.
Before we go on, be sure to check out some of our favourite Halo wins and fails below.
“Using evidence found within Halo 2’s tags, map scripts, and other external media, Halo 2 Uncut aims to accurately restore as much cut content into the game as possible,” the mod’s description reads. “Features pre-release elements such as cut weapons, cut weapon and vehicle functionalities, restored cut encounters and map scripts, and features Director’s Cut-style cutscenes.”

As reported by DSOGaming, some of these restored weapons include the E3 2003-style single shot battle rifle, the general purpose machine gun, and a suppressed SMG. As for some of the other stuff, the mod adds in the cut Falcon, Shadow and Covenant Gun Tower.
This is the first version of the mod, so chances are it’s not perfectly refined yet, but you can still give it a go right now - download it from here.
In other Halo related news, it’s not long to go now until the TV adaptation premieres. To be precise, it’s going to be airing on 24 March, exclusively on Paramount+, and it sure looks like something. It doesn’t seem to have the actual game’s music in it, and perhaps most divisively, Cortana isn’t blue. The horror. We’ll just have to wait and see if it’s any good.
