With it now officially being less than nine months until we finally get our hands on Grand Theft Auto VI, players are eager to learn all there is to know about the highly anticipated Rockstar title.
However, with Rockstar itself keeping details close to its chest, it has been up to the occasional rumour and insider leak to keep fans satiated.
Now with the release of Grand Theft Auto VI just mere months away, said leaks and rumours are ramping up once more and the latest is in regards to an important feature in the game.
Water.

According to the VGT Gaming News Twitter account in a post which has since been deleted, Grand Theft Auto VI will feature “the most realistic water physics ever seen in a video game”.
With water physics being a telltale sign of a game’s graphical level, it is no surprise that Rockstar is pushing the boat out (ha ha) to make sure GTA VI stands out amongst the rest when it comes to Leonida’s rivers, oceans, and lakes.
According to the report, Rockstar has assembled a team of 20 top engineers who have exclusively worked on the water physics modelling for the game.
Additionally, the budget for this is estimated to be around $200-300 million, “according to reliable sources”.

Last but not least, the report concludes by revealing that GTA VI will feature surfing, hurricanes and floods and, for the first time in open-world gaming history, will feature dynamic high and low tides.
Of course, none of this has been confirmed by Rockstar so it is worth taking with a pinch of salt. However, with the studio being the masters of attention to detail, it does not sound too far-fetched to know that GTA VI will feature never-before-seen water physics and graphics.
Grand Theft Auto VI is set to arrive on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 26 May 2026.
