In the world of video games, there is "hype," and then there is the seismic, reality-warping gravitational pull of Grand Theft Auto VI.
The constant anticipation of GTA 6 news is tantalising, and gamers are losing their minds. Fans are so desperate for any news that they've figured out a way to add a ‘Recently Played’ GTA 6 badge to their PlayStation profile via an exploit.
They were able to do this thanks to two specific title IDs found in the database of the PlayStation Store —PPSA01547_00 and PPSA29660_00. People figured out how to use these PlayStation IDs to trick their console into launching the game. Don’t worry - they didn’t actually get to play. It would just add the game to the list of "Recently Played" games on their PlayStation profile. However, it could hint towards some details around multiple versions, and a surprise console release nobody saw coming.
Advert
Now, Rockstar has scrubbed Grand Theft Auto VI as it currently exists from the PlayStation Store, according to a dataminer known as @yAmethxst. The players who were exploiting it to look like they've already played GTA 6 is likely to be why - there’s currently no news on another delay, or a change to the GTA 6 pre-order plans. Despite that, this is just the latest flag that GTA 6 news could be coming sooner than we think.
What exactly does this mean for you?
The simple explanation is that a "Title ID" is the DNA of a game’s presence on a console. It basically links store listings, trophy data, and licenses to the hardware. Unfortunately, nobody was able to pull any data on PlayStation trophies that could give us a hint at the story. However, it's not all bad news. It could mean that Rockstar is doing a massive house-cleaning of their digital storefronts ahead of the GTA 6 pre-order announcement.
It's not the first time something like this has happened. But while the IDs are gone for now, the implications of their brief appearance are still rippling through the community.
It might suggest GTA 6 gets a PS4 release
According to yAmethxst, both IDs were linked to “PS4”. Imagine GTA 6 running on a PS4 - it immediately feels like a bad idea. In saying that, Rockstar did it with Red Dead Redemption - one of the most beautiful games of all time. There’s no reason, in my mind, they couldn’t pull off a miracle so every PlayStation fan can go hands-on with GTA 6.
One user on Reddit said: “Why are they so weird about this game? What is in this game that they want to keep such a big secret so bad?”
Well, there’s one more bit of information that these IDs might have spoiled about the release of GTA 6.

Could two IDs mean two GTA 6 versions?
The presence of two distinct IDs immediately sparked the debate we see with every major launch: Standard vs. Deluxe? Could GTA 6 be getting a deluxe edition?
My initial thought was yes, obviously. Rockstar know people will pay any amount of money to play this game, why wouldn’t they?
However, technical experts have pushed back on this. On the PlayStation 5, different editions of a game (Standard, Deluxe, Ultimate) often share a Master ID, with the "extra" content being handled via separate DLC licenses rather than a completely different game file.
A more likely explanation for the dual IDs is Regional Variation. The first ID could be linked to a global/US version, with the second ID being a localized version for regions with strict censorship laws (like Japan or certain Middle Eastern territories) that require a different executable file.
Why a GTA Deluxe Edition is still inevitable
Despite the dataminers' claims that these specific IDs don't prove the existence of multiple editions, common sense (and Rockstar's history) tells a different story.
I don't buy the "Standard Edition only" theory for a second. Rockstar is the king of the tiered release. Whether it's the Special Edition maps of GTA V or the Ultimate Edition horse breeds in Red Dead Redemption 2, there is zero chance that the most anticipated game in history arrives without a premium tier.
Even if the "extras" are purely cosmetic—think exclusive outfits for Lucia and Jason, a specialized vehicle, or a black card for the next generation of GTA Online, I would be shocked if we don’t see it, personally.
With Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently reaffirming a 19 November release date, this ID “leak” could mean PlayStation and Rockstar are prepping for news. We can only hope its soon, before gamers actually go insane.
