GTA 6 Wins Yet Another Game Award Despite Second Delay

In the least surprising win of the night...

Despite receiving yet another delay earlier this year, Grand Theft Auto VI has found itself picking up yet another award at this year’s The Game Awards.

And yes, it is probably the one you would most expect: Most Anticipated Game.

Winning for the second year in a row, Grand Theft Auto VI takes away the coveted award and although it is good news for the Rockstar Games team to get yet another trophy under its belt, it is bad news for us.

It is wild to remember that the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto title was originally expected to launch in fall 2025 before being delayed until 26 May 2026 and more recently 19 November 2026.

However, with many fans believing that GTA VI will not launch until 2027 at the earliest, this may not be the last time we see it grab the Most Anticipated Game award.

With just under a year left to go until we can finally (and hopefully) get our hands on Grand Theft Auto VI, what we know so far is pretty limited.

What We Can Expect

We know that the next Grand Theft Auto title will introduce brand-new protagonist pair Jason and Lucia who embark on a Bonnie and Clyde-esque adventure across a newly imagined Vice City and surrounding areas.

Following the second delay to GTA VI, Rockstar released its second cinematic trailer earlier this year but with the third trailer expected any day soon, fans are hoping that they will finally get to see some gameplay.

However, for now, Rockstar is battling with working on the most anticipated video game release of all time as well as dealing with mass layoffs and the constant threat of leaks such as the one that took place back in 2022.

It has not been an easy few years but there is no doubt that Rockstar will soon forget the pain when the royalties start rolling in.

Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be the biggest game of all time, both in scope and in terms of sales, and so regardless of the decade-long wait, players will be lining up.

So there you have it. Grand Theft Auto VI bags itself yet another Most Anticipated Game award at The Game Awards 2025 but let us just hope that it is the last time it will be nominated for the award.
