There are precisely eight months to go until Grand Theft Auto VI is finally ours; this is assuming it doesn’t suffer any further delays.
It’s been a quiet couple of months for the game, but that’s to be expected.
Fans of the acclaimed Rockstar Games franchise had to wait a whopping 17 months between the game’s first and second trailers.
We won’t see that silence repeated given that trailer two dropped in May 2025 and the game launches in May 2026.

Even still, there’s no real need for Rockstar to surface now.
I’m imagining it’ll do so closer to Christmas or the new year where we’ll likely find out about pricing, pre-orders, and get the opportunity to see some more gameplay.
Naturally, fans are also desperate to discover more about the game’s story and map.
How Long Is GTA 6’s Story?
With many fans having already booked time off work to celebrate GTA VI’s release, it’s hoped that the title will be a pretty stonky experience.

We’re all expecting GTA VI to have an enormous open-world based on the sheer number of side activities that have been teased, but what of the main campaign?
Well, Rockstar Games hasn’t confirmed its length at the time of writing, but perhaps we can deduce it from previous titles.
Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games’ prior release, had a story that lasted around 50.5 hours for main quests or 84 hours for main and side quests according to How Long To Beat.
GTA V was very slightly shorter at 32 hours for the main story, or 51 hours for main and side content.

I’d imagine GTA VI to be more in line with Red Dead Redemption 2 as it’s more indicative of what Rockstar is capable of with today’s technological resources.
Of course, this is all speculation and fans have their own ideas of what length they’re hoping the game to be.
“Is it realistic to expect 100+ hours for GTA VI?” asked Reddit user Wallsflow.
Personally, I don’t think that’s unreasonable if you’re talking about 100% completion; I can’t imagine we’ll see a story last that long.

It might become rather tiresome.
“I will be playing tennis and golf for 100+ hours,” replied Zicoto. This is the way.
“I’d expect a similar length to Red Dead Redemption 2,” added 33Sharpies, echoing my own thoughts.
“Not the main story, which I think will be around like 50 hours to finish, but for %100 completion I think it will take more than a hundred hours,” said RustinSpencerCohlee.
