GTA 6 sales predictions unlike anything we've ever seen

A GTA VI sales prediction is unlike anything we’ve ever seen, but this will likely surprise no one.

It will come as no shock when Rockstar Games announces that its next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series has broken all sorts of sales records following its highly anticipated release.

For years, social media hasn't stopped talking about GTA VI, long before it was revealed by Rockstar Games in December 2023. That’s why it came as no surprise when its first two trailers generated millions of views on YouTube.

There’s even speculation that Rockstar Games may sell GTA VI for anything between £80 to £100 for a standard edition.

Sure, fans will be rightly frustrated if GTA VI sells for as high as £100, but I very much doubt that will slow down fans eager to pick up a copy of the game at launch.

So, how many copies of GTA VI will sell at launch? We can only guess at this time, but we all know that it’s going to be a lot more than most video games.

Grand Theft Auto fans on Reddit have recently been discussing the predicted sales of GTA VI when it launches next year.

“GTA VI predicted to make $7.6 billion in its first 60 days,” posted Redditor JadedPaleontologist0, sharing information provided by Josh Chapman of Konvoy based on a prediction that the standard edition will be $79.99.

To compare notes, when GTA V first launched in 2013, according to a wiki entry, it made $800 million in its first day and $1 billion over the first three days. To date, GTA V has sold 215 million copies worldwide, as detailed on Statista.com.

According to a report from TweakTown earlier this year, during a Take-Two Interactive investors call, it was revealed that GTA V has generated $8.6 billion in revenue since it first launched.

“That's more than a movie, music, or any entertainment product makes in its lifetime,” said Electrical_Room5091, replying to the Reddit post.

“Jeez, that is ABSURD! $7.6 billion in the first two months?” exclaimed Wisdomseekr79.

“That's a pretty confident prediction, but GTA+ is also probably gonna carry a good chunk of the weight, if it gets close,” suggested BDRParty.

Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to be released on 26 May 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
