Grand Theft Auto VI may still be on track to launch on 19 November, but Rockstar Games is yet to reveal much about the game.
Outside of its two pre-existing trailers, the acclaimed studio is choosing to remain quiet, with nothing yet to say on the topic of gameplay or pre-orders.
Technically, yes, Trailer 2 comprises 50% gameplay, but it’s presented in a very cinematic fashion. We’re all itching to discover what combat or the game’s UI looks like.
As for pre-orders, well, Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that the game’s marketing will ramp up in the coming months, and pre-orders will surely be a major part of that.

If GTA VI was to put its pre-orders live six months in advance, that would place the date in May.
That’s far from the only reason though why May could be the month to watch.
GTA VI Fans Could Be In For 3 Months of Silence Ahead of a May Reveal
Reddit user Tank-ToP_Master pointed out that Rockstar Games has a penchant for Tuesdays, with 5 May falling just ahead of a Take-Two earnings call.
This is all very valid. That’s basically what happened with Trailer 2 which landed on Tuesday 6 May 2025 ahead of an earnings call.
The user also brought up that we know marketing kicks off in the summer with the theory explaining that the transition from May into June is often when the summer period is considered to begin.

I personally think Rockstar Games will make the announcement on its own terms, but I wouldn’t be surprised if additional info on the game arrived during Summer Game Fest which is held in early June.
Fellow Reddit user Professional-End2065 was thinking along the same lines, saying, “Yeah I do agree with that. Show Trailer 3 in May to get pre-orders going so the full marketing can begin in June through September.”
It’s not the first May theory to arise.
Earlier this month, fans floated the ‘177 day theory’ about. It states that 177 days separated Red Dead Redemption 2’s third trailer and release day.
The thinking then is that GTA VI’s third and final trailer will precede it by 177 days which would be 26 May.
Personally, I think that thinking is a little silly but I do agree with the general gist of the theory.
The key here isn’t 177 days. It’s the fact that the May earnings call is such an important event.
That’s why Red Dead Redemption 2’s final trailer was released in that time window, and it’s probably when we’ll next hear from GTA VI.
As such, I’d prepare yourselves for three months of silence but the arduous wait will all be worth it in the end.
