Welp, there it is.
Rockstar Games’ GTA VI has officially been delayed; there is some positive news though.
Alongside the delay, Rockstar did actually confirm the game’s release date. It’ll land on 26 May 2026.

“Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026,” tweeted Rockstar Games.
“We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team.”
“We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game. With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception.”
The statement ended, “We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve. We look forward to sharing more information with you soon. Sincerely, Rockstar Games.”

Honestly, a delay is a good thing. It means we’ll get the best possible game in the best possible state.
This is a knife to the heart though if you’re a PC gamer.
GTA VI will now land in 2026.
GTA VI, at the time of writing, is due to land only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

It will inevitably launch on PC too, but Rockstar has an unusual history of releasing PC ports sometime after their console counterparts.
GTA V, for example, landed on console in 2013, but the PC port didn’t arrive until 2015 - two years later.
By that logic, with GTA VI now arriving in 2026, it’s very possible that the PC version could hold a 2028 release date.
There is some hope.

Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in 2018, with that game's PC version landing one year later in 2019.
So a 2027 release isn’t out of the question either.
Heck, it could land in late 2026 but it certainly would be out of character for Rockstar if it did.
If you’re a PC gamer, I’d honestly start prepping for the worst.
