The dust has most certainly settled following the release of Grand Theft Auto VI’s second trailer earlier this year, and it doesn’t look as if Rockstar Games is going to provide an additional update on the title any time soon.
If I had to guess, I’d say it’ll be late 2025 or early 2026 before GTA VI surfaces again for its final marketing push where we’ll likely finally see those pre-orders open up.
In the meantime, that means fans are having to revisit previously released materials, and it’s the draw distance of certain shots within the game’s trailers that are getting fans hyped about the potential size of the game’s map.
If you don’t know what draw distance is, it’s interchangeable with view distance or render distance and essentially determines how far into the distance objects are placed.

Based on the GTA VI footage released by Rockstar Games, it looks as if the title boasts a huge draw distance signifying that we very likely have a huge map to explore, packed with detail.
A discussion was kicked off by Reddit user Zairy47 who said, “The draw distance is insane,” before adding, “Usually far away models [are] reduced to low polygon and no shadows, but here we can see fairly detailed object[s] like cars traffic signs and lamp poles so far away and even the shadows.”
“This is what a billion dollars in development gets you. A new benchmark,” replied Dangerousrhymes.
“I hope no one questions R*'s cooking ever again,” added another user.

We haven’t yet received an official look at GTA VI’s full map, but you can seek out the work of the GTA VI Modding Project team who have used the game’s trailers, screenshots, and leaked materials to put together a mock map.
A similar exercise was carried out ahead of the launch of GTA V and the fan version ended up being pretty similar.
We do know some of the various regions we’ll be able to explore as those have been confirmed via the official GTA VI website.
Players will be able to visit Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gelhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park.

I’m sure the game will include additional locations; Rockstar isn’t going to give everything away at once.
Even still, five regions is quite a lot for players to cover; that already exceeds or matches the size of many AAA game releases.
With GTA VI set to finally land on 26 May 2026, I expect that the next seven months will be very exciting indeed.
