A new rumour regarding GTA VI’s wanted system has got fans torn.
We’re still nearly 11 months away from the release of GTA VI, but that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about every little detail.
Fans have speculated on everything from the locations we’ll be visiting to the various activities we can do while off-mission. It’s set to be a very expansive game.

Now, a new rumour is floating around that explains how the wanted system will work in GTA VI, but fans aren’t convinced.
Grand Theft Auto’s wanted system is essentially a level that measures how aggressive the police respond to your crimes.
Committing smaller felonies such as hijacking a car or pulling a gun on someone will result in a one or two-star wanted level, while more severe crimes like murder give you a much more severe wanted level.
Posted by the GTA 6 Countdown page on X (formerly Twitter) from an unconfirmed source, the wanted system in GTA VI will apparently allow police to cordon an area after a crime has been committed, and start questioning witnesses.

If you return to the scene of a crime, you’ll get a one star wanted level and police will try to question you, giving you a chance to not incriminate yourself and get away.
The leak also suggests that police can also use “dogs, tear gas, riot shields, advanced combat tactics and they recognise your vehicle”, and that enemy forces can attack in waves.
Fans seem divided on whether this could feasibly work or not.
“Nah this feels too good to be true,” wrote a comment on Reddit. “Would be cool, but I am going to lean no.”

However, others pointed out it sounds like a modified version of mechanics from Red Dead Redemption 2’s wanted system.
“Yeah basically sounds like a slightly updated RDR2 system with witness and stuff,” wrote another comment. “Pretty much what you'd expect.”
I guess we won’t know for sure until Rockstar officially confirms it.
The publisher usually releases a gameplay demonstration trailer closer to launch, which might be when we get confirmation about the new wanted system.
