Some GTA 6 fans have admitted that the launch could feel somewhat “underwhelming” when the game releases next year.
Rockstar Games is set to launch Grand Theft Auto 6 next May, and it’s most likely going to be the biggest release of the year.
With everyone and their mums eagerly awaiting the open-world game, which is sure to smash all records, some fans have admitted that the upcoming release might be “underwhelming”.
As posted on the GTA 6 Reddit page, one user asked if others felt that the game would feel underwhelming on the first generation it appears on.

“My PS5 Pro runs GTA 5 amazing. 4K at 60fps. But it’s a 12 year old game,” reads the post in question. “Is it realistic to imagine a “PS3 Pro” experience versus a “PS7 Pro” experience? (In equivalence).
“Obviously my PS5 Pro is a thousand dollar beast - but GTA 6 will have 2026 R* standards. I’m worried it won’t feel as insane in May, as it obviously has the potential for in the 2030s (comparing first and last gen GTA 5)… Am I totally in the wrong?…”

The post is worded strangely, but I think what they’re trying to say is that GTA 6 will run better on the PS6 compared to the PS5 Pro.
Which is pretty obvious, but since we don’t have a PS6 yet to compare it to, I’m not sure why that would make the release underwhelming. Still, fans have weighed in with their opinions on the topic.
“Just look at RDR2, a 7 year old game that runs on an old gen console yet is still to this day the most beautiful open world and has one of the best graphics,” reads one comment in the replies. “Rockstar, their games are always insanely good optimized. I doubt the game will be 60 fps on base consoles though.”
“It's obvious the plan is to release full potential on next-gen or PC,” reads another comment. “But there is no way the game is underwhelming in my opinion. It's gonna be great on PS5 (let alone Pro), and even more on PS6 and PC.”

“It's not only about raw power, but also attention to detail,” a third comment reads. “Current consoles have no problem rendering complex 3D models, but you need a lot of manpower and time to design even the smallest location.”
I’m sure that GTA 6 will do just fine on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and since we don’t have a PS6 or whatever the next Xbox will be called to compare it to, I can’t see it being underwhelming.
