With Grand Theft Auto VI set to be the first GTA title in over a decade, it is no surprise that fans are excited to see what Rockstar has managed when it comes to pushing the boundaries of graphics and performance.

Although Grand Theft Auto V still holds up when it comes to its graphics, it is no secret that we have come a long way when it comes to how pretty games can look.

Check out the trailer for GTA VI below!

Originally made for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, GTA V’s graphics are very much of its time but thanks to a recent update for the 2013 title, we may now have more of an idea of what we can expect Grand Theft Auto VI to look like.

Grand Theft Auto V on PC has finally welcomed its RT upgrade which will allow players to toggle ray traced global illumination across the game.

The update, which was previously only available across consoles, has not only now made its way to PC but it also gives us some insight as to what we can expect from ray tracing in GTA VI.

That seems to be the case for Alex Battaglia over on Euro Gamer who believes the update offers some important clues.

“In fact, based on our analysis of GTA 6's first trailer, there's enough evidence here to suggest that this may well be tech for the upcoming Rockstar release backported to GTA 5 on PC,” he wrote.

“So, perhaps we are actually getting a preview of the lighting technology found in GTA 6 both in terms of features we can expect and even the level of performance we can expect.”

It was not long before news of this update took to r/Games and excited GTA VI fans discussed what this could mean for the highly-anticipated release.

“I fully expect the PC port of GTA 6 to be Nvidia’s next go-to showcase toy and have path-tracing and ray-reconstruction,” user HearTheEkko shared.

However, some fans are worried that these demanding graphics may not bode well for PCs.

That being said, HearTheEkko was back with some reassurance.

“Obviously ray/path-tracing is demanding and will run at lower frame rates than faster, but if the game is well optimized and you have a beefy PC, framerates will be high and you'll have plenty of room to use RT/PT.”

It remains to be seen how GTA VI will run on PC but for now, there is just a few months to go until it is released on console and the excitement is higher than ever.
