GTA 6 fans concerned over graphics downgrade from first trailer

Can our consoles handle it?

Alongside concerns over the lack of second trailer and even bigger concerns that Grand Theft Auto VI may be delayed at the last moment, some fans have expressed another worry they have in recent days.

Confirmed by Take-Two Interactive earlier this year, Grand Theft Auto VI is still scheduled for a Fall 2025 release which means that there are just six months to go before we hit that highly-anticipated release window.

Check out the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI below!

As the first Grand Theft Auto instalment in over a decade, it is safe to say that the Rockstar title has become the most anticipated video game of all time.

However, that has not stopped fans from expressing some concerns when it comes to both its gameplay and its graphics.

Shared to r/GTA6 over the weekend, one fan said the following:

“Something I think about is how Rockstar will handle the combination of large crowds of people with extremely realistic graphics.

The graphics in Red Dead Redemption 2 are still great to this day, and the optimization is also impressive, but RDR2 had it easier because a large part of the map was just empty terrain (I mean forests, etc.).

Now, with the map of GTA VI, where at least half of it will be city or cities, I’m worried that no current console will be able to handle so many things at once.”

To hammer home their point, they provided two images: one taken from the GTA VI trailer which shows a bustling beach, and the second from Grand Theft Auto V’s in-game and quite empty looking beach.

However, with over 1,000 comments racked up across three days, it is safe to say that fellow fans had their own thoughts over this concern.

The top comment by user SaturnVFan read: “GTA 5 was released on an Xbox 360.

This release will be on Xbox Series S at minimum. I think there will be a big difference but it will probably be a bit less than the trailer.”

Another user added: “It will, because Rockstar Games are genius as to how they push the capabilities of the consoles to their full limits.”

It remains to be seen if their worries will be placated, but for now, all we can do is wait for the second official trailer ahead of GTA VI’s full release later this year.
