GTA 6 Gamers Explain Why Another Delay Won’t Happen

Tenuous, but we respect it

The furore around the release of Grand Theft Auto VI has been ongoing for what seems like forever, like that big storm on Jupiter that has been going on for at least the last 350 years, only without the poisonous gas (for now).

That hasn't been helped by the fact that the original release date for the game has now essentially been and gone, with fall 2025 set out as the original target, which ends on 21 December.

The second delay to proceedings made that even worse, pushing the game all the way back to November 2026 and infuriating a ton of people in the process.

As such, fears of further delays are understandably rife, but one fan thinks they have worked out a reason why those worries may be misplaced, and they've used an old Rockstar game to do it.

Over on Reddit, one user posted a side-by-side comparison of the delays to GTA VI, alongside the historical delays to Rockstar Games' beloved western Red Dead Redemption 2. In all fairness, they are quite identical, with Red Dead also being pushed from fall to spring of the following year, before finally being released in the fall of a year later than originally planned.

As fun and comforting as the theory is, not everyone in the responses was convinced, and they were keen to let OP know.

"Every time you use Rockstar's previous games and actions as an argument, remember that a month ago you said, 'Rockstar never delays games if you name a specific date,'" one comment read.

"This means absolutely nothing. The fact that Rockstar already gave us an actual date, down to the exact day, and still delayed it again, without even showing anything as compensation, already means that the way the release was handled for RDR2 is not comparable to this time," another added.

"Not sure why you think this is evidence that it can not be delayed further. Y'all should be going into this assuming it’s possible either way. Many denied looking at Red Dead 2 and their other games as proof that they could. Said it wasn’t possible. Just be patient jeeeez," a third argued.

Whatever does happen, there's very little Rockstar can do now to cool down the overall hype for the game. Whilst that's obviously a great thing for them financially, that additional pressure means they have to deliver on the expectations of the people, or else suffer the consequences.
