It’s set to be a major week for the Grand Theft Auto franchise, with GTA VI finally set to open its pre-orders on Thursday 25 June.
That hasn’t exactly improved the patience of hopeful gamers.
Many have taken to desperately combing through the game’s cover art and marketing materials in search of additional clues.
Some are even looking for answers within GTA V’s files with Rockstar Games known to have previously left assets in shared internal folders.

It’s there that a hint may have been found regarding GTA VI’s first discovered mission.
YouTuber MeaningEye0657 recently posted a soundtrack file titled ‘Heat Check Mission’ which doesn’t appear in GTA V, leading some to assume that it may be GTA VI related.
MeaningEye0657 isn’t the first to discover the file with it having been spotted by several dataminers.
It’s important to note that this is most definitely not confirmed to be a GTA VI mission track; that’s merely an assumption based on the fact that it doesn’t feature in GTA V.
It’s certainly an assumption that could prove to be true but this could just as easily be a track that Rockstar Games planned to use in GTA V that got the chop.
The matter has heavily divided fans.

“I think this is at best an unused song for GTA V that will maybe be used in the upcoming online DLC,” said Reddit user Roox4.
“GTA V does have GTA VI assets already, certain cars from recent DLCs are backports from GTA VI,” countered ElectricalYak7236.
“If it’s not part of the heist that’s coming in July and really from GTA VI, I definitely see it being the wanted level theme or at least the music that plays during the timer for when the cops arrive,” said Acrobatic_Study7663.
Like several fans have said, it’s perhaps more likely that this unused audio file relates to GTA Online.
It feels like a given that we’re going to get a hefty final GTA Online mission that somewhat leads into GTA VI. This could be preparation for that.
Although Rockstar Games has tested out various new assets in GTA V and GTA Online, I don’t think it’s all that likely that they’d dump a whole music track.
It’s far more subtle to test out, say, a car or a certain texture.
Hopefully, GTA VI’s pre-orders are accompanied by new intel about the game, whether that’s via fresh screenshots or a third trailer.
Heck, we could even glean something from the accompanying merch of a collector’s edition.
The game’s pricing has reportedly been leaked by one European retailer with versions of GTA VI listed at €89.99, €99.99, €109.99, €119.99, and €199.99.
Do take that with a pinch of salt for now as nothing has been confirmed by Rockstar Games, but that’s roughly $100 / £80 for a base version of the game.
With pre-orders opening in just three days time, the acclaimed studio will be putting us out of our misery before long.
