Over the past few days, Google has been announcing some of its top trending search topics and in amongst the most searched movies, songs, and more, we also got to see a glimpse of which video games have been typed into that search bar the most throughout 2025.
However, there is one title whose position may just surprise you.
December is the month of wrap-ups with sites and apps such as Spotify, Discord, YouTube and beyond giving us insight into how we spent our year on our favourite platform.
To our top-listened song to our most-watched Youtube channel, there are statistics for everything and Google is no different.

That is why it has been sharing our top-searched for queries in many different categories and of course, video games was just one of them.
As a result, Google has shared the Top Trending Games of 2025 consisting of ten titles which took the world by storm this year.

This is quite an interesting list, especially considering titles such as Roblox, Minecraft, Path of Exile 2, and Strands released before 2025 and yet still remain on the list.
However, some of 2025’s stand-outs such as Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Split Fiction, Battlefield 6, and ARC Raiders have made it onto the list, showing just how popular they were throughout the year.

On the other hand, although Grand Theft Auto VI is the only title listed to not be out until 2026 (unless we are hit with another delay), it is still surprising to see it pick up a mere 7th place.
Does this mean that the GTA VI fatigue has finally hit us?
It is unsurprising if so. After all, the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto franchise was originally expected to launch in Fall 2025 before being delayed to 26 May 2026 and more recently, 19 November 2026.
Despite it being the most anticipated game of all time, it seems as though fans are losing more and more hope as the years go on and these multiple delays are not helping matters.
However, we can hope that Grand Theft Auto VI will actually be available this time last year.
