GTA 6 void to be filled with 4 classic remasters, says Take-Two

What could they be?

The void while we wait for the release of GTA VI could be filled by four remasters according to Take-Two Interactive.

When Rockstar Games released the first trailer for GTA VI in December 2023, social media went into a frenzy. Then we had to wait roughly a year-and-a-half for the second trailer but GTA VI trailer two was well worth the wait.

However, just a week before Rockstar Games released the second trailer for the highly anticipated next entry in its Grand Theft Auto series, it was announced that GTA VI is to be pushed back from its late 2025 launch window to May 2026.

That being said, while we currently have a set release date for GTA VI, this is Rockstar Games we're talking about here, who are very known for delaying its games multiple times. But to be fair, the developer more than makes the most of that extra production time.

With that in mind, it’s already been claimed that GTA VI could still be delayed from its current May 2026 release date, which will come as no surprise to anyone.

Even without a potential extra delay, we still have a year until GTA VI is released, so what will die-hard Rockstar Games fans do in the meantime? Well, judging by the recent Take-Two Interactive earnings call, the Rockstar Games parent company could release four remasters to fill that void.

In a tweet shared by videotechuk_, it says that Take-Two Interactive are considering “four new iterations of previously released titles”. In other words, we could get four remakes, remasters or basic re-releases, the latter perhaps similar to the 2023 re-release of Red Dead Redemption.

Recent rumours have already claimed that GTA IV is getting a remaster of sorts and Max Payne 1 and 2 is official, so what could the other three games be?

Of course, we can only speculate but the first games that come to mind are Red Dead Redemption 2, Bully, as well as one of the Manhunt and Midnight Club games.

We’ll, of course, keep you updated when we learn more. GTA VI is currently scheduled to be released on 26 May 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The PC release for Grand Theft Auto VI is yet to be announced.
