Newly unveiled market research suggests that Rockstar Games and Take-Two may want to keep GTA VI on the cheaper side if they want to maximise profits at launch, and the GTA fan base has some odd feelings on the matter.
Debate around Grand Theft Auto VI’s potential launch price has been raging for well over a year at this point.
Everything from tariffs, to evolving market trends, and even the game’s reported budget are being factored into its rumoured $100 launch price, but the real nail in the coffin was Nintendo’s decision to price certain titles at a premium following the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 (which then caused Microsoft to follow suit).
However, as spotted by IGN’s Wesley Yin-Poole, a new study by MIDiA Research outright states that Rockstar Games is likely to earn a hell of a lot more for GTA VI… by charging a hell of a lot less.

According to MIDiA, the $69.99 price point for GTA VI would be "optimum", and charging $100 for the game would result in publisher Take-Two potentially losing out on a lot of profit.
“Our research suggests that gta 6 will generate more revenue at a standard $69.99 price point than the much discussed $100... a $100 price point would actually leave money on the table", MIDiA Research's Head of Data Perry Gresham revealed.
Naturally, Grand Theft Auto VI fans over on Twitter have some mixed feelings about the report.
“Even if they only charge 70$, they will still recoup the game's costs and make a ton of profit in less than 24 hours”, commented user @HideWorksGames.

“bro if gta 6 drops for $100 i better be able to rob a bank in game and cash out irl”, replied user @yunuykissesxo.
“it will cost 70$, cause now everyone find it a "normal price", also, there's no point in making it higher, if people can't afford something, they will try to pirate it. Even though GTA6 will be released on consoles first & that is DRM for them”, commented user @FoxHoundUnitMGS.
Personally, I think if Take-Two wants to get the most money out of GTA VI, they’ll be angling to bleed a new generation of Grand Theft Auto Online players dry through microtransactions instead.
After all, if they want to sucker people into buying those overpriced Shark Cards, they’ll have to make sure they actually have access to the base game in the first place.
