GTA 6 has already won its first award, because of course it has

Grand Theft Auto 6 has already won its first award, and I'd imagine it's the first of many.

Despite not being set for release until 2025, Grand Theft Auto VI has already won its first award courtesy of PlayStation. However, with the game being the most-anticipated game of all time, this comes as no surprise.

Earlier this month saw the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI released and as you can imagine, it has gone down quite the storm. This is to be expected considering the last title in the series, Grand Theft Auto V, was released way back in 2013 and became the second best-selling game of all-time. With the weight of expectations on its shoulders, Rockstar had to deliver and it seems as though it did with news that the upcoming instalment has already won an award.

Check out the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer below!

Not to miss out on the Game of the Year ceremonies taking place across the internet (don’t miss out on our own!), the PlayStation blog recently held its own to celebrate the standouts in a fantastic gaming year. As well as handing out awards for the Best New Character, Best Story and Best Art Direction, PlayStation also had a category dedicated to the ‘Most Anticipated PlayStation Game of 2024 and Beyond’.

As you can probably guess, first place went to Grand Theft Auto VI with the post reading: “The debut trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI offered a tantalising glimpse to the richness and next-gen visual splendour that’ll await PS5 players when they visit Vice City. And by the record number of views that trailer has received to date, the city’s population is set to explode when the game launches in 2025.”

With the new trailer reaching a staggering 150 million views in just two weeks, it is clear that GTA VI is set to be the most-anticipated game of all time and with a release date finally on the horizon, we doubt this will be the last award Rockstar will be winning.
