Gross Red Dead Redemption 2 Detail Found, We're Not a Fan

Who would do such a thing?

Red Dead Redemption 2 players can pick up a pretty nasty habit, proving once again that Rockstar Games thought of everything.

When GTA VI was delayed to May 2026 it meant we could fit in more playthroughs of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Since then the next Grand Theft Auto game has been delayed for a second time, which means even more playthroughs of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Through those playthroughs I can all but guarantee that you’ll stumble across several open-world details you hadn’t spotted before,

One such detail is sort of a gross one, and involves scavenging for cigarettes dropped on the floor by other NPCs.

Why on Earth you’d want to do this is beyond me, but Rockstar Games is just built differently when it comes to attention to detail.

Redditors found out about the gross addition to the game when one was walking through what’s presumably Saint Dennis.

Along the way an NPC passes by and flings their cigar onto the floor, which the player walks over before bumping into them.

Turns out when the cigar is on said floor it becomes an obtainable item. You can add it to your inventory and even smoke the rest of it if you want to be particularly heinous.

I’ve no idea why this was made a feature in the game, the cigar could have very easily just fizzled out and despawned but for whatever reason Rockstar chose to have them stick around.

Several comments were left on this post but the top one, for good reason, read “Damn Arthur, I hope you don’t catch anything.” That’s a low blow fossilmerrick, a low blow indeed.

Aside from the many commenters who didn’t know you could pick up cigars thrown onto the floor, many actually didn’t know NPCs discarded them at all.

“Hmm, that is pretty cool, I never knew that you could do that” read one of the comments, with another adding “TIL,… NPCs throw cigars on the ground.”

One more read “That explains the random cigar on the ground the other day. I was wondering wtf was happening. I just took it as a weird glitch or something. It's cool that you caught it happening.”

Rockstar Games is still the undisputed king of open-world gaming details, and Lord knows GTA VI is somehow going to be even better, provided it actually comes out that is…
