It’s been a long time since Gotham Knights was announced by Warner Bros. Montreal back in 2020 at the DC Fandome event. As a refresher, Gotham Knights is set to focus on Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Red Hood as the foursome step up to protect Gotham City in the wake of Batman’s death.

The open-world title was originally set to release in 2021 but was later pushed back to this year - and is now scheduled to release on 25 October 2022. As for which platforms the game is set to release on, that’s where things may have changed.

Check out the Gotham Knights reveal trailer below if you previously missed it.

Built in Unreal Engine 4, the game was originally announced to release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Microsoft Windows. It now looks like Gotham Knights could be a new-gen exclusive though. The PC release would remain unaffected.

The official website still lists Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as release platforms, but Gotham Knights has recently received its age rating in Taiwan and only the new-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S have received ratings.

When the game was delayed last year, the developers wrote, “We are giving the game more time to deliver the best possible experience for players. Thank you to our amazing fans for your tremendous support of Gotham Knights. We look forward to showcasing more of the game in the coming months."

Here we are over a year later and updates on the game have been scarce. Perhaps the developers are struggling to get the game to co-operate on previous-gen consoles. Of course, the missing ratings could simply be down to a delay. Until further details are given by Warner Bros. Montreal, the original release schedule still technically stands. If the October release is to be met though, we’d expect updates soon.
