'Gotham Knights' PlayStation 4 And Xbox One Versions Have Been Cancelled

Bad news...

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Gotham Knights have been cancelled, Warner Bros. has confirmed.

When WB Montreal's multiplayer Batman game was first revealed in 2020, it was confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. However, the last-gen versions of the game will no longer launch in order to ensure the "best possible experience" for players.

Take a look at some recently released gameplay footage of Gotham Knights below:

Warner Bros. didn't have very much at all to say about the cancellation of the game on PS4 and Xbox One, including the news as a brief aside in the newly released gameplay trailer.

"To provide players with the best possible gameplay experience, the game will not be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles," the note reads.

While this will obviously come as a blow to gamers who were banking on picking up the last-gen version of the game, it may well be the best move in the long run. It's no secret that CD Projekt RED struggled to get Cyberpunk 2077 to work on PS4 and Xbox One, to the point that it was an absolute mess on older consoles when it launched back in 2020. Nearly two years later, it's still a bit of a wreck on these platforms and far from the recommended experience.

After a delay, Gotham Knights will now release on October 25 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
