It’s official - God of War Ragnarök is just as good as everyone hoped. Critic reviews went live yesterday afternoon, and the general consensus is that it’s simply a phenomenal game, and everyone should be very excited about it.

GAMINGbible’s own Ewan Moore gave Ragnarök a 9/10 in his review: “Ragnarök is a fantastically impressive sequel that delivers in every conceivable way,” he wrote. “It expands on and improves the formula established in 2018’s God of War hugely, offering up blistering action, gut-wrenching twists, and truly cinematic boss battles with real emotional heft behind them. This is a high-stakes, high-fantasy rollercoaster from start to finish, and an instant PlayStation classic.”

While you're here, take a look at this cursed Ragnarök trailer starring Ben Stiller as Kratos.

Given the onslaught of incredibly positive reviews, it’s perhaps no surprise that Kratos’ latest adventure has scored very highly when it comes to all-time game rankings, too. Currently on OpenCritic, Ragnarök has got an average critic score of 94, and is recommended by 98% of critics. This scoring makes it tied for sixth place on OpenCritic's highest-rated games list, alongside Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal, Hades, The Last of Us Remastered and 2018’s God of War.

When you look at just this year’s releases, Ragnarök is in third place on OpenCritic, behind Portal: Companion Collection and Elden Ring, which both have average scores of 95. A lot of good games have released this year, huh?

It’s just five days to go until release day, and if you’re a completionist, you can get ready to have all your free time absorbed. Reportedly, if you want to 100% Ragnarök, it’ll take you at least 70 hours. According to HowLongToBeat, God of War (2018) takes on average 51 hours for completionists, so the sequel is significantly larger - best of luck with that.
