God Of War and Assassin's Creed had a baby and made this open-world RPG

God Of War and Assassin's Creed had a baby and made this open-world RPG

"Gods and guns collide"

This upcoming action-RPG game looks to be taking inspiration from some of the best franchises gaming has to offer, and that's no bad thing. When you put together an open-world, battling Gods and third-person battling, you might be onto a winner.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn appears to be combining the parkour and combat from Assassin's Creed with the God bashing and mythology of God of War, there's also a sprinkling of pirate adventures in there too.

There are plenty of Gods to battle in Kratos' best adventure to date

So, what is Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn? It's an action-RPG where the central character, Nor Vanek - who is accompanied by Enki, a strange magical creature - must battle "the old God’s army of the undead." That sounds very metal. Apparently the living are on "the brink of extinction" and it's time for an army to retake their world.

"Embrace vengeance, gunpowder and magic and embark on an epic journey to lead mankind’s final siege against the tide of the dead." If that doesn't sound like a kickass blurb for a game, then I don't know what does. There seems to be lots of magic flying around, plenty of close-combat battles with guns and swords, plus a bunch of hulking monsters.

Now, one thing to note is that this game was supposed to release in 2022 which was mentioned in the trailer, however the Steam page now lists the game as due in 2024 and the trailers show the game as looking quite polished so hopefully we'll see more soon.

In the tags on the Steam page the game is noted to feel like a SoulsBorne, which makes sense with the combat shown, but you can also pull off some sick combos, so it seems Flintlock has a few fingers in several pies.
