The Game Awards are only a few weeks away and video game Father Christmas Geoff Keighely has begun to dial up his teasers ahead of the big day.
There are a ton of rumours floating about regarding what may appear on the night itself, whether it be new releases, expansions, sequels or television adaptations, as well as the often very exciting special guests who appear throughout the evening.
Over on X, Keighley shared a photo of a disturbing statue featuring suits of armour, monsters, skeletons and a whole bunch more weird stuff. The caption for the photo appears, on the face of it, to be 3 random words, which in all fairness it is.
The fun part is that those three words are associated with a specific location via what3words.com. In this case, it's the North-west corner of Joshua Tree National Park in California, just off a major highway.

That's where the statue is located and, after one dedicated fan visited and took a look at everything up close, several theories about what it all means have begun to emerge.

Diablo, God of War, or Something Else?
User TotallyNOTTrio shared images of themselves visiting the monolith on social media, claiming that staff there were "all pretty hush hush about what it's for."

Several leading theories have emerged about what it may be, almost entirely based on what it looks like, though there are other context clues that could help us find a legitimate answer.
The biggest and most prominent idea around now is that it's there to mark the upcoming announcement of a new expansion for Diablo IV at The Game Awards.
The tortured souls and misshapen creatures do all lend themselves to that, though there isn't anything specifically Diablo that gives the game away.

User VGTimes believes those theories to be off base, claiming that one staff member even revealed that it was something to do with God of War.
Other leant into that further, claiming to see images of armour from the series, as well as even the World Serpent (though I'm struggling to see that one myself with the images available.
The last prevailing theory is that it could be DOOM-related, though if I had to bet on one, I'd go with Diablo as the leading potential candidate.
The Game Awards are set to go live on 17 December, so we won't have too long to find out exactly what's going on.
