This is a deal you don’t want to miss.

Blizzard Entertainment’s fantastic 2023 action RPG Diablo IV is free to download and enjoy for a limited time.

From now until 2 October at 6pm, I’m assuming that’s my local time and therefore BST, you can play Diablo IV as much as you’d like.

This is, as you may have guessed, a free-to-play period more so than the game actually being yours forever.

When this free offer comes to a close on 2 October, Diablo IV will return to being a paid game and you’ll then lose access.

There is a silver lining though, until 29 September, Diablo IV is massively on offer on Steam.

You can benefit from a whopping 55% off, bringing the price down to £18.89.

Personally, I’d try out the game over the next two to three days, and therefore you’ll know whether you want to take advantage of that 55% discount before it expires.

If you’re not familiar with the game, it’ll see you progress through nightmarish dungeons as you master various classes and abilities and seek out legendary loot as the powerful Lillith continues to accrue cultist followers in the lands you inhabit.

It’s a fantastic game that’s only continued to excel with the launch of each successive expansion and season - for the most part anyway.

In fact, the game boasts a very respectable score of 86 over on Metacritic.

I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the fact that it has a user score of just 2.6.

Developers launched a couple of dodgy updates earlier this year leading to a wave of zeroes that just haven’t gone away.

On Steam, however, the title is sitting at ‘Mostly Positive’.

“Being a player of Diablo for more than 20 years I finally got that good rush from the old days with D4. Unsocket gems for free, use better equipment. Get stronger over time without having to take a masters in math, just plain old Blizzard fun. Visuals are cool and story too. Side quests are rewarding,” wrote one happy player.

“Good graphics, nice gameplay, great customisation, no gender locked classes, can increase difficulty for more rewards and doesn't require a PhD to make a build,” added another.

I will also add that Diablo IV is currently free-to-play on Xbox for a limited-time too, so don’t feel that PC is your only option here.

That’s for all Xbox members - no Game Pass needed. That offer runs until 30 September at 10am PDT.

The free trial is also running on PlayStation, although given that Diablo IV was recently made available via PlayStation Plus, I’m guessing there’s going to be slightly less interest here.
