God Of War fans are desperate for a Thor spinoff game

The recent God of War gave us many things: a heartwarming tale of a boy and his father, epic fights with monstrous creatures and a deep dive into the world of Norse mythology. It is the latter that allowed fans to meet the god of thunder himself and many are calling for the character to get his very own spinoff game.

A secret ending to 2018’s God of War showed the arrival of Thor who would go on to become one of Kratos’ many opponents in the 2022 sequel God of War Ragnarök. Played by actor Ryan Hurst, the game’s portrayal of Thor is a stark difference to his interpretation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the god of thunder being played by Chris Hemsworth. However, many fans claim to prefer Hurst’s take on the Norse god.

So much so that fans are now calling for God of War’s Thor to get his own spinoff game. The question was broached on r/GodofWar where one user asked: “Does anyone want a God of War spin off as Thor? I feel it could be really good character and world building for the Norse part of the God of War universe and I personally would love to see a younger Thor after beating Ragnarök.”

It wasn’t long before other fans took to the thread to share their thoughts and it would appear that Santa Monica Studio should consider a future for Thor.

One comment read: “I would've loved to be able to use the hammer throughout Ragnarök so a spin-off to show Thor's past would be nice in my opinion.”

Another added: “I would love a Thor spinoff. Mainly just for Mjölnir but still.”

Thor’s story ended in God of War Ragnarök but with a lifetime of adventures and stories, there would be more than enough content to fill a spinoff game. Let us just hope the developers feel the same.
