After a brief delay, Signal Studios and indie publisher Accelerate Games have confirmed that the HD remake of classic Xbox Live Arcade title Toy Soldiers will in September.

The beloved action-strategy originally launched back in 2010, and was an instant hit. Toy Soldiers puts two armies of miniature wooden soldiers into a series of creatively designed battlefields and then has players duke it out. Simple, yet effective. Levels included fun homespun environments like kid's bedrooms, lounges, libraries, and gardens for a real Toy Story vibe.

Signal Studios announced last year that Toy Soldiers would be returning on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2021 with new content, new gameplay options and new difficulty settings. Improved HD graphics also overhaul the original textures completely.

Originally planned for September, Toy Soldiers HD will now launch September 9. Signal Studios has even released a shiny new release date trailer, which you can see above.

"Watch the action unfold or jump feet first into the boots of an infantryman and race across the battlefield dodging artillery while using a flamethrower to burn your enemies to a crisp," reads the trailer's description. "Mount your horse and charge the enemy head on with your cavalry. Pilot bombers and drop shells that pockmark the field below or strafe your opponent using biplanes. Go hands-on howitzers and mow down the enemy."

Accelerate Games was founded last year by former Acclaim Entertainment CEO and Co-Founder Greg Fischbach. Toy Soldiers HD will be among the publisher's first games.

"What we love about Toy Soldiers is it combines historical accuracies, hardcore action and strategy, and humor with infectious fun gameplay," said Fischbach in a press release at the time. "The game's off-the-charts replayability and multiplayer features are sure to recapture the attention of previous enlisted fans and recruit an army of new ones.

"I co-founded Accelerate Games because I want to build a team of long time video game veterans with a common goal of establishing long term, collaborative relationships with talented creatives who are determined to cultivate brands and build lasting IPs. We look forward to helping the small, but talented team at Signal Studios reach their goal of introducing Toy Soldiers to new audiences worldwide across console and PC platforms."
