So remember Marvel's Avengers? Yeah, actually since the release of the game, it seems there it has moulded a space for itself in the hearts of many Marvel fans. The game has been added to, improved (especially with the War for Wakanda update) and now it seems that Crystal Dynamics is still looking at its future with hope. The devs are so confident of its success that they're now hinting at the addition of their next hero or villain, and there are three options fans have worked out.
As reported by Forbes, the weekly blog post from the team working on Avengers had a curious hint at what the next character being added to the game after Spider-Man could be. The post asks systems designer Melad Darbandi, "can you give our community a hint at something fun you're currently working on?". The developer responds: "Whatever I say would make me sound like a .... Liar Liar."
Here is our interview with Christopher Judge for the War For Wakanda expansion...
Now that sounds like a hint doesn't it? Fans have three theories but the first is that this is a reference to Loki. Loki is the god of mischief and constantly lies as part of his personality. He's probably the most popular Marvel villain since the MCU constantly involves him in plots over its movies and more recently gave him a series of his own. So lying, Loki, go hand in hand.
The other options are to do with the film Liar Liar. The 1997 movie Liar Liar is about Jim Carrey's lawyer character and his inability to lie. So if we're thinking about lawyers, two new options for additions come up: Matt 'Daredevil' Murdock or Jennifer 'She-Hulk' Walters.
She-Hulk may be the most likely as she's been the most referenced by the game already and has been heavily rumoured to be coming to the game. Additionally, it might be cool to have She-Hulk on the team following The Hulk's appearance.
In any case, "Liar Liar" has got us all thinking hard about what might be coming next. Good job, Darbandi.
