A source who claims to be familiar with the development of Grand Theft Auto VI has suggested that several of the biggest rumours currently surrounding the game are all true.

Over the last year or so, there have been three persistent rumours. The first - and most prominent - is that the game will feature a female protagonist for the first time in the series' history. The second is that the game will take players back to Vice City, something that multiple Easter eggs and teases seem to have pointed towards. The third is that a big part of the game will also be set in South America, and have players travelling between Vice City and South America as they build a criminal empire.

It's important to remember that none of these rumours have been verified, and that they should be taken with a pinch of salt. Rockstar Games is an incredibly secretive studio, and it's rare that information it doesn't want to get out gets out. While it's true that these rumours have all been circulating for months - and in some cases years - that doesn't make them any more credible. It just means people are more willing to believe in them.

Earlier this week prominent Call Of Duty leaker Tom Henderson claimed that the female protagonist rumours are true, lending something approaching credibility to these whispers for the first time. Now, YouTuber Legacy Killa has taken to Twitter to claim that both the reports of a female protagonist and Project Americas - that's the rumours of Vice City and South America in one game - are accurate.

Legacy Killa claims to have received this information from "someone in the know", who confirmed the entire Project Americas leak to them a few years back. Again though, this supposed source is unverified, so approach with caution. The fact the YouTube is willing to throw their weight behind these rumours is interesting, however.

All we really know for now is that Grand Theft Auto VI is in development, and that it'll be a single-player focused experience. As for release date, plot, and virtually everything else? That remains a frustrating mystery.
