If you ask Fallout fans which game in the series they like best, many would answer Fallout: New Vegas and for good reason, it’s a fantastic game that stands the test of time.

However, do you know what makes 2010’s Fallout: New Vegas even better? Being able to play this fantastic post-apocalyptic RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment with friends and if that sounds like your cup of tea, then you’re in the right place.

Check out the Fallout: New Vegas trailer below!

“As you battle your way across the heat-blasted Mojave Wasteland, the colossal Hoover Dam, and the neon-drenched Vegas Strip, you’ll be introduced to a colourful cast of characters, power-hungry factions, special weapons, mutated creatures and much more,” reads the synopsis of the game. “Choose sides in the upcoming war or declare “winner takes all” and crown yourself the King of New Vegas in this follow-up to the 2008 videogame of the year, Fallout 3.”

So how do you play Fallout: New Vegas with friends, I hear you ask? Thankfully, the process is relatively simple and you can begin your co-op journey into Obsidian Entertainment’s post-apocalyptic RPG with friends by downloading the free Fallout: New Vegas multiplayer mod.

It’s worth keeping in mind that you will likely encounter bugs and glitches when playing the Fallout: New Vegas multiplayer mod but considering we are talking about a Bethesda Softworks-published title, that should come as no surprise. That being said, the developers of the mod will be hard at work to help ensure that player experience runs as smoothly as possible.

Once you’ve got the multiplayer mod up and running, its server can support up to 128 players. However, despite the popularity of Fallout: New Vegas seeing that concurrent player count in real time might be unlikely as not everyone will have this free mod downloaded.

Nonetheless, the prospect of playing a cult classic such as Fallout: New Vegas with friends or randoms is an exciting one indeed. Unfortunately, as with the nature of most mods, this multiplayer offering is exclusive to PC and is not available on PlayStation or Xbox.

Fallout: New Vegas is available to subscribers of Xbox Game Pass at no extra cost.
