'GTA 6' Features Series' First Female Protagonist, Says Industry Insider

It's about time.

Grand Theft Auto VI will feature the series' first ever female protagonist, according to a new report from a reliable industry insider.

Fans of the open-world crime series have long wondered if/when Rockstar would include a woman as a playable character, especially given the fact that GTA V featured three men that could be swapped between at any time. Rumours have been flying around for years now that GTA VI would finally include a woman in a starring role, and now leaker/insider Tom Henderson has suggested that the in-development sequel will, at last, include a female and male protagonist.

For those who might not be familiar, Henderson has a pretty solid track record when it comes to reporting on rumours and leaks related to the Battlefield and Call Of Duty franchises. Most recently, Henderson accurately predicted the return of several Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War features, including killstreaks.

It's not clear how connected to the world of Rockstar and their ongoing projects he is, but he certainly tends to know what he's talking about. With that said, do take this with the usual pinch of salt required when addressing such rumours.

Over on Twitter, Henderson wrote simply that "for the first time ever in a GTA title, GTA 6 will have a playable female and male protagonist." The news seems to have been met with a mostly positive reaction so far, although I'm sure it won't be long until the darker parts of the internet accuse the SJWs of propaganda and brainwashing for daring to include a woman in a GTA game after all these years.

Unfortunately we still have no idea what to expect from GTA VI, or even when to expect it. Rockstar has remained as tight-lipped as ever about the upcoming game, although fans are having a whale of a time tracking down potential clues and leads. Just last month players uncovered evidence of 1980's period Cartel weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2, fueling previous rumours that GTA VI would see players travelling between Vice City and South America.

Months before that, fans spotted that Rockstar had quietly updated the domains for "gtavicecityonline' and ''. Prior to that, an 80's electro synth artist claimed in a now-deleted tweet that Rockstar Games has been reaching out to various artists to feature their work on the Grand Theft Auto VI soundtrack. According to "Vector Hold", the studio has been looking for Synthwave artists for one of the game's Vice City-inspired radio stations.
