If you have happened to miss it, one of the biggest legal proceedings in games we've seen in a long time has been steadily unfolding. Epic Games, developers of Fortnite and the Unreal Engine, has been going up against tech giant Apple in a legal struggle over Apple's App Store and in-game purchases. But that's beside the point today, because at the very beginning of the legal proceedings, someone forgot to mute all of those calling in to hear the case which led to one fan promising blowjobs.
Spotted by Eurogamer, the legal proceedings of Apple versus Epic were a little delayed because of the option for audiences to tune in via phone call. If you dialled in you could directly hear the case but for some reason, someone forgot to prevent those callers from adding their input, and once the callers realised the court's mistake, all hell broke loose.
If you weren't aware, Epic Games purposely broke Apple's contract when it added in-game purchases to Fortnite. When Apple kicked the game off the platform, Epic immediately revealed a video they had produced parodying an Apple advertisement from years ago, asking people to fight for them. Although it's hard to decipher much of what people are saying, there is one sentiment that rings loud above the rest - one dude who promises that he "would suck all of you to get Fortnite mobile back". Charming, eh? Though I'm sure many would love to have Fortnite back on the App Store, I'm not quite sure if Apple will take a promise of getting to third-base as a legitimate bargaining chip.
Well, after that little hiccup, things proceeded pretty smoothly - though Tim Sweeney did get asked if he knew which consoles were which at one point. It's rather amusing to think that the boss of Epic Games, one of the world's biggest developers had to point out a Nintendo Switch, a PlayStation 5, and an Xbox Series X as if he might find the question difficult. Needless to say, he passed that test with flying colours and the case went on to investigate the Epic Games Store, how Apple might have cultivated a monopoly, and if Fortnite is more than just a game at this point.
