Crash Bandicoot among five 'Gaming Legends' in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, says leak

As Fortnite fans get ready to jump off the Battle Bus and into a whole new season, the usual deluge of leaks is starting to burst forward. Chapter 7 Season 3 arrived with all the usual fanfare in June 2026, and while most of us have enjoyed the addition of Sprites alongside the ability to save John Wick's dog, many already feel like they've done all there is to do.

Fortnite remains one of the biggest video games around, and although we've had plenty of nods to the wider world of gaming, Chapter 7 Season 4 is tipped to go hard on the nostalgia with a whole game-themed season.

Crash Bandicoot and Sonic the Hedgehog tipped for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 debut

Despite the fact that Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 isn't due to arrive until after August 19, dataminers are already unearthing proposed collabs for what comes next. The general theme of the next season is said to be 'Gaming Legends', and with that, Crash Bandicoot, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Kingdom Hearts are all tipped to be headliners. Persona and Mega Men are also supposed to be part of the ensemble, but in terms of pure nostalgia, Crash and Sonic are sure to be the big ones here.

At a time when PlayStation is still in a quagmire of controversy due to its extermination of physical discs in 2028, the addition of Crash as a former PlayStation mascot is sure to make us think of simpler times.

The Crash franchise is no longer a PlayStation exclusive, and even though Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time was a smash hit, our hopes of Crash 5 diminish by the day. We'll take all the Crash we can, but the idea that he might be confined to Fortnite is a grim prognosis.

Similarly, Sonic put SEGA on the map and made a recent(ish) return with Sonic Frontiers and the likes of Sonic X Shadow Generations, but feels like it's far from the franchise's highs. Finally, our agonising wait for Kingdom Hearts 4 could have some of the sting taken out of it by Sora's arrival.

Gaming collabs are nothing new for Fortnite, with the likes of Halo's Master Chief and Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft all making their mark. Of course, the addition of God of War's Kratos has become something of a joke, as he's been MIA from the Item Shop since 2021.

As with any Fortnite crossover, there are sure to be those who are disappointed that their favourite hasn't made the cut.

Gamers reveal their Chapter 7 Season 4 wishlists

We could sit here all day and reel off gaming legends we'd like to see dive into Calamari Canyon, while there's an obvious opportunity to bring back old gaming skins to the Item Shop. There's been some complaints about old Battle Pass skins appearing in the shop, but even though he wasn't in the Battle Pass, we're sure Kratos' long-awaited return could make bank.

Over on X, fans threw around their own concepts for Resident Evil's Ada Wong and Albert Wesker, Joel and Ellie from The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption's Arthur Morgan, and more. We've got to agree that if you're adding Sonic, you're going to need Shadow.

In general, many seemed psyched by the idea that some of our favourite franchises could soon land in the ever-popular battle royale. Posting on Reddit, one person wrote: "Despite playing quite a bit, I have never spent a dime on Fortnite. Never thought Crash Bandicoot would be the thing to change that."

Another added: "I also just saw in the Fortnite leak sub that Persona just got leaked...my wallet is in for a very rough time isn't it."

A third cheered: "Not gonna lie, this would make me spend so much money lol I'm not proud of it, but I can be realistic."

There's still over a month until the new season drops, but as with all things Fortnite, expect the leaks to start coming thick and fast.
