The Final Boss For ‘Stranger Things’ Might Have Been Hidden In Plain Sight

Vecna might not be Stranger Things' endgame villain according to this convincing theory.

Ever since Stranger Things’ fourth season drew to a close, fans have been obsessing over what season five could potentially entail. Previously, the Duffer brothers expressed that season five would likely be shorter, plus they probably won’t be adding to the show’s already extensive cast. It sure seems like Vecna is lined up to be the series’ final villain but this latest theory suggests that may not be the case.

Speaking of Netflix, check out the creepy new trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities.

TikTok user demi_kujiperss took to the platform to suggest a theory which, now that I’ve heard it, seems blindingly obvious yet has so far been overlooked. As I said, it looks like Vecna is primed to be the endgame villain seeing as he has control over the Upside Down’s Demogorgons, Demodogs, Demobats and the Mindflayer.

As Demi points out though, Vecna isn’t the strongest villain in Dungeons & Dragons - which is closely linked to the series’ villain lore. The most powerful villain is actually Borys, a red dragon, and in an early season four episode, Will actually paints a three-headed red dragon. Coincidence? I think not. Take a look at the theory below.

I don’t know about you but I’m convinced. Will seemed pretty attached to the painting too, and we know he has connections to the upside down. Personally, I think Eddie will also return but not in the way that you’d expect. It’s likely that we’ll have to wait a good few years before season five hits our screens. Until then, keep the theories up folks.
