The Fast & Furious franchise has never lacked on-set feuds and Fast X has certainly upheld that tradition. The penultimate film in the long-running franchise was set to be directed by Justin Lin who also directed Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, and Fast 9. Back in April though, Lin pulled out of the project.

It’s since come to light that Lin fell out with both Universal and leading actor Vin Diesel over the film’s script. During a disagreement with Diesel, Lin reportedly stormed out saying “This movie is not worth my mental health.” Yikes. Well despite the upset, production on Fast X is zooming ahead and a key role has now been cast.

Speaking of cool cars, we had the chance to drive a real Warthog from Halo: Infinite. Take a look below.

Actress Rita Moreno has been cast as the grandmother to Vin Diesel’s character Dominic Toretto. It was actually Diesel who announced the news by posting a video of himself and Moreno to Instagram. In the clip, Diesel said “It's been my dream forever to work with Rita Moreno, and the fact that she's here playing my grandmother makes my soul smile. I'm so blessed."

Moreno replied to Diesel saying, “You know what, I think I was getting … I think my old age was waiting for you to invite me. Isn't that nice? And I'm here, and the answer is yes, I'll do it."

You may recognise Moreno from Steven Spielberg’s 2021 remake of West Side Story. Having won an Oscar for 1961’s West Side Story for playing Anita, Moreno returned to the story to portray brand new character Valentina. Moreno also appeared in a string of 50s and 60s classics including The King and I and Singin’ In The Rain.

Moreno isn’t the only star joining the franchise. She follows the previously announced additions of Jason Momoa and Brie Larson, while Louis Leterrier is onboard as director. Hollywood certainly isn’t deterred by the franchise’s rocky history when it comes to on-set drama.
